Valerie Christiansen, DVM, grew up in Fresno, California. She received her degree from U.C. Davis in 1989
and her Masters in Preventive Veterinary Medicine. Before purchasing Bayside Veterinary Hospital
in January, 2006, she worked as an associate veterinarian in Napa for 13 years.
Dr. Christiansen is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association,
the California Veterinary Medical Association, the Napa-Solano Veterinary
Association and the American Animal Hospital Association.
Her family includes husband Barry, children Patrick and John along with many pets.
She plays and sings in a church music group and enjoys gardening and bike riding with her boys.
Beverly Weishaupt, Practice Manager, has been working in the veterinary field for several years and has successfully managed practices in
the north Bay Area. When the opportunity arose to partner up with a long-time friend and co-worker, Valerie Christiansen, it seemed only natural
to purchase Bayside. Fortunately, we were able to retain the great staff that was already in place and with the addition of Joey Elepano,
completed the "dream team". Bev assists the receptionist and helps out in the back when necessary, handles the day-to-day operations of the business,
as well as the marketing and financial end of the business. Bev lives in Napa with her husband Gary. In her spare time, her passion is antiques--"It's
the hunt that remains the thrill!"
Michael Bethard, DVM, is a 1973 U.C. Davis
graduate and has been practicing veterinary medicine in Tahoe City, Sonoma,
Napa and now in Vallejo. We have been lucky enough to have Dr. Bethard here one day a week and appreciate
his skills and his wonderful humor. He is a member and past president of the Napa Solano Veterinary Medical
Association. He enjoys photography, boating, his four sons and grandchildren.
Barbra Leal, Office Manager/Receptionist, is a Southern California native who has been a Vallejo
resident for five years. She has a great love for all kinds of animals. Barbra enjoys, reading,
walking on the waterfront with her dogs, cooking, entertaining friends and spending time with
her loved ones.
Leonora (Leo) Carmody, Receptionist, works part time with us. She has filled in helping
the technicians in the back and also helps the front office staff. Leo has worked for various
veterinarians in the bay area for several years which makes her very knowledgeable
and experienced. In her spare time she enjoys taking her pets for walks on the waterfront,
sewing, cooking and music.
Thomas Kurt Wassersleben, Head RVT (Registered Veterinary Technician), has worked in the veterinary field since 1990.
After graduating from private school in 1992, he passed his state boards later that year. RVTs are licensed by the Veterinary Medical Board
to induce anesthesia and suture skin incisions. Veterinary technicians also perform tasks in the hospital such as venipuncture,
bandaging, lab tests, dental cleaning, taking and developing X rays, nursing care, preparing patients for surgery and monitoring
their vital signs during surgery. In his free time Tom can be found mountain biking, lifting weights or riding his Harley around the Bay Area.
Joey Elepano, RVT, is a registered veterinary technician and has been in the veterinary
field for several years. He loves to go the beach with his dog and also has an umbrella cockatoo
and fish (quite the combination). In his free time Joey enjoys playing guitar, basketball and
collecting swords.
Stephanie Webb, RVT, has worked as a veterinary technician since 1999.
She became a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) in 2006. She has always loved animals, and has a dog, Lucky,
a cat, Freeway, and a huge suckerfish named Barnacle. In her spare time she enjoys reading, walking her dog, spending time with her loved ones, and in the summer,
swimming and going camping.
